Warriors Unlikely To Fire Don Nelson?
Six NBA coaches have been fired this season, but the Warriors are unlikely to fire Don Nelson despite the team’s dismal start.
Golden State signed Nelson to a two-year, $12 million contract extension this October.
“I’m just trying to compete, you know?” said Nelson. “I’m trying to keep a good attitude and positive approach as best we can and try to play the game the right way.”
The Warriors are off to their worst start since Mike Montgomery’s rookie season.
“We’re not going to let (the players) get down. We’ll do our crying by ourselves. And when we’re around the team, we’re as positive as we can be,” Nelson added. “We’re trying to get better, and I’m sure that we will.”
–From a article on REAL GM. The Warriors shouldn’t fire Don Nelson. The man knows what he’s doing. The Warriors should be thankful that Don Nelson didn’t decide to retire when Baron Davis left. But I don’t understand why Don Nelson never gives Brandan Wright and Anthony Randolph any minutes. They should be playing the whole game. Instead he plays guys like Rob Kurz. Don Nelson needs to play those guys more. And start playing Marcus Williams he has a lot of talent. Signing Corey Maggette was a waste of money. I think the only reason they signed him was to get back at the Clippers. They don’t need Corey Maggette and with Jamal Crawford there and Monta Ellis once he comes back they will have too many two-dimensional players. They shoot the ball all the time and never play any defense. It’s going to be all long time before the Warriors will ever see the playoffs.
